Meet Jillian!
This bright, affectionate one-year-old mixed-breed pup has come such a long way-and now she's ready for her next chapter!
Jillian recently celebrated her first birthday in her foster home-and all she really wanted was a forever family to call her own. She had her very first pup cup and even got to pick out a new toy at the store. She thought it was all pretty great, but her birthday wish was clear: a family of her own. It's been a tough first year, with much of it spent recovering and missing out on the usual puppy experiences-but Jillian is ready to make up for lost time. She knows her second year will be amazing.
Thanks to her dedicated foster mom (who handled all the tough parts), Jillian is now thriving. She's curious, playful, and loves being with her people. She's incredibly treat-motivated and sometimes does things without even being asked-just in case a reward is coming! She knows "sit," responds to her name, and will go into her crate when asked with "kennel"-though she'd much rather be out with you. After months of crate rest, it's no surprise she prefers freedom and companionship.
Earlier this year, Jillian was hit by a car and suffered a broken leg. She spent months recovering in her foster home, and the hardest part is now behind her. She's officially cleared to gradually return to full activity. You might be wondering-what recovery does she have left? Honestly, not much! Jillian just needs a few more weeks before she's cleared for marathons or extended off-leash playtime. Outside of that, she's already back to her normal routine and loving every minute of it.
She's also the perfect work-from-home sidekick, happy to curl up under your desk or snooze at your feet while you tackle your day. Despite everything she's been through, Jillian remains incredibly friendly and social. Her tail never stops wagging, and she lights up around people. She's a joyful, affectionate pup who's always ready to make a new friend. Because of her long recovery period, Jillian is still learning some leash manners. She may pull and get vocal when she sees other dogs, but with a harness and consistency, she's already making progress. She's mostly housetrained and adjusting well to her routine.
Jillian also discovered a new favorite activity: swimming! Hydrotherapy helped build her strength and confidence during recovery, and she's excited to keep it up as part of her continued physical progress. Jillian's favorite foods include cottage cheese and peanut butter. When left in her crate at home, she especially loves enjoying a frozen bone stuffed with cottage cheese-keeping her happily occupied and content.
Jillian currently lives with two resident dogs-but she has definitely earned the title of "annoying little sister." She's playful and persistent, and always wants to interact-even if her dog roommates don't. Because of this, Jillian would love to be the only dog in the home. If there is another dog, it would need to be an especially tolerant companion who can handle her high-energy playstyle. She can also get a bit jumpy when excited, so a home with sturdy children would be best. Due to her prey drive, she's not suited for homes with cats or small animals.
This special girl is looking for a patient, committed adopter to support her final steps toward full recovery and help her continue blossoming into the amazing dog she's meant to be.
