Meet Yangtze! At 9 years old and 52 pounds, this sweet senior still has a bright spark and a joyful, easygoing spirit. Yangtze is gentle, affectionate, and people-oriented - the kind of dog who bonds quickly and loves being near his humans. He's always ready for a walk, a game with his beloved ball, or a cozy nap on the couch.

In his foster home, Yangtze has shown just how wonderful of a companion he is. His housetraining is flawless, and he settles beautifully whether he's snoozing on the couch or relaxing in his crate. When left alone, he's quiet, calm, and respectful - truly an easy, low-maintenance housemate. He's also very polite around the resident dogs, choosing to mind his own business and leave them be.

Yangtze walks nicely on leash. He's been a bit more excited this week and may pull slightly at the start of a walk, but he responds well to redirection and settles into a smoother pace quickly. He doesn't react to people or animals when out on his own, though he may mirror another dog's excitement if he's walking with a group - a behavior he redirects from easily with guidance.

When meeting visitors, Yangtze may bark when someone first enters the home, but he relaxes as soon as he gets to say hello. Outdoors, he's friendly and doesn't bark at new people before meeting them. He loves attention, enjoys snuggling, and thrives on companionship. His energy has been a bit higher this week with a busier household, but he remains manageable, happy, and eager to engage.

Yangtze is smart and treat-motivated - he knows "sit," and "spin," and is working on perfecting it (with some charming stubbornness). Balls are his absolute favorite, and he's always delighted to play. A hike is on the horizon for him, and his foster expects he'll enjoy it thoroughly.

Yangtze has met other dogs at BARCS and generally does best with slow introductions or calm companions. He's not reactive on walks, just appreciative of a thoughtful, steady-paced approach when meeting new canine friends.

If you're searching for a loyal, loving companion who brings together maturity, playfulness, and an affectionate nature, Yangtze may be your perfect match. He's ready to bring warmth, joy, and steady companionship to a lucky home.
