Looking for a loyal, loving shadow who will snuggle her way into your heart (and probably into your lap)? Meet Millie-a total sweetheart who's equal parts affectionate cuddle bug and laid-back walking buddy.

Millie originally came to BARCS as a stray, and her finder described her as super friendly and great with their dog. During her time at the shelter, she was a little overwhelmed by the environment but slowly began to come out of her shell-especially when hot dogs were involved. (Seriously, hot dogs are 100% her love language.)

While at BARCS, Millie joined a pack walk and totally rocked it! Calm, polite, and curious, she took in all the good sniffs like a pro. Although she's not the most food-motivated pup (unless hot dogs are involved), she does love a good "find it" game and lights up when it's time to play. Treats? Maybe. Cuddles and belly rubs? Absolutely. Once she warms up, Millie is all about the love-she even handed out a few kisses after making a new human friend. She walks beautifully on leash and enjoys laid-back strolls at her own pace. She was non-reactive to other dogs in passing and weighs around 51 pounds-just the right size to try and sneak into your lap if you let her.

Millie is now in a foster home, and her foster family says she's an absolute dream. She's housebroken, affectionate, and adores being close to her people. Millie is a classic Velcro dog-if you're in the house, she wants to be right next to you. She sleeps curled up beside her foster every night and is so gentle and sweet it's impossible not to fall for her.

At home, she's mostly a couch potato. Give her a cozy blanket, a lap, and a chew toy (she's a big fan of shredding stuffies-fair warning!), and she's content. She's also working on "sit" and "stay," and is picking them up quickly-she'll even do them independently now! Millie rides calmly in the car, too, which is a welcome bonus if you've ever had a pup with car anxiety.

Millie can be a little bossy with other dogs, so she'd likely do best as the only dog in the home or with a very calm, easygoing dog companion. She should meet any resident pups beforehand to ensure it's a good fit. She also has a strong prey drive and wants to chase cats, so a home without small animals is best. Because she doesn't love being left alone for long periods, Millie would thrive in a home where someone is around most of the time. In return, she'll give you her whole heart-and probably a few kisses too.

If you're looking for a dog who will adore you endlessly, stick by your side, and make you feel like the most special person in the world just for being there, Millie is your girl. If you'd like to meet her, please email dogfosters@barcs.org to be connected with her foster family.
