Meet Tomato! This sweet and silly 48-pound girl is full of personality and love-and she's ready to find a forever home that's just as special as she is.

Tomato is currently thriving in a foster home, where she's been showing off her smarts and her snuggle skills. While she can be fearful of new things and startles easily, she's completely at ease when it's just her and her person hanging out in a calm space. Once she feels safe, she transforms into a total cuddlebug who wants nothing more than to be near you-whether that's hanging out under your desk, lounging in your lap like a tiny dog, or curling up at the foot of your bed like a big, plush teddy bear.

Don't let her quiet moments fool you-this girl has *moves*. Her foster reports that she once pulled off an Olympic-level leap over the backyard fence to chase a squirrel! While her agility is impressive, she now enjoys her yard time under more supervision (and with squirrels promptly escorted off the premises). A secure, fenced-in yard is a must for this athletic gal.

Tomato is incredibly smart and eager to learn. In addition to "sit," she's mastered "paw" and "other paw," and her foster keeps her on her toes by switching it up during their post-yard routines. She picked it up in just a day or two! She's extremely treat-motivated and would thrive with continued positive reinforcement training.

Tomato's also had a chance to enjoy a "Dogs Day Out" adventure with BARCS volunteers. She opted for a cozy day in a home setting, where she was gentle, affectionate, and a total cuddlebug. She was sweet with the 6- and 7-year-old children she met and preferred belly rubs and bonding over toys.

She's house-trained, crate-trained, and used to living in a home. She loves people-especially her female foster-and enjoys being close, always wanting to be part of whatever you're doing. Her former family shared that she was happiest curled up in a soft dog bed or tucked into a cozy corner.

Tomato is working on her confidence outdoors and currently prefers yard time to walks, which still make her nervous. A patient, understanding home will help her feel more secure and continue to blossom. She's lived with kids (ages 8 and 10), and while she enjoys their affection, she may be a little too strong on leash for young handlers.

Tomato does best with calm, gentle dog friends and should meet any potential doggie roommates to ensure a good match. She's eligible to return to BARCS for social playdates.

This affectionate, quirky girl has so much love to give. If you'd like to meet her, complete an application and email dogfosters@barcs.org to be connected with her foster family!
