Meet Queen - the affectionate, gentle love bug who's ready to rule your heart! Queen is the perfect mix of snuggly companion and calm walking buddy. She came to BARCS as a stray and has been winning over everyone she meets with her soft eyes, warm nature, and endless affection. Her foster calls her "100% a snuggle-bug," and it couldn't be more true - Queen is happiest curled up beside you, resting her head on your lap, or quietly following you from room to room like the loyal little shadow she is.
In her foster home, Queen has been nothing short of wonderful. She's fully housetrained with a rock-solid routine and no accidents this week. Even when her people leave, she settles in beautifully - snoozing peacefully on the couch until it's time for more cuddles, walks, or snacks. She is crate-trained, though she prefers lounging on a soft couch or cozy dog bed, where she can stretch out and drift off in comfort.
Queen continues to shine on her daily walks. Her leash manners are lovely most of the time, and she enjoys her long midday adventure through fields and wooded trails. She's still working on pulling when she spots other dogs, but she responds well to redirection and games like "Ready, Find It," and she's making steady, positive progress each week. She's curious rather than reactive - just a girl who gets a little excited sometimes and wants to say hi.
This sweet girl absolutely adores people. Queen met several new adult visitors this week - men and women - and greeted everyone with her trademark blend of enthusiasm and gentle affection. Whether at home or around town, she soaks up attention with the happiest little tail wag and melts into pets like she's known you forever.
Queen is also doing wonderfully with structured interactions around the resident dogs. She's had calm gate greetings, smooth parallel play, and even successful parallel walks with the two resident male dogs - no issues at all. Her foster has been moving slow and steady to set her up for success, and Queen has handled it all like a champ.
Her energy level continues to be exactly right for her age - balanced, steady, and easygoing. She loves her long daily walks, including peaceful wooded hikes, then happily spends the rest of the day relaxing, chewing on a favorite bone, tossing around a stuffie, or curling up beside her people for snuggle time. She didn't take on any new activities this week, but she handled her routine beautifully and remains an enriching, comforting companion.
If you're looking for a loving, mellow, people-oriented dog who's equal parts walking buddy and cuddle partner, Queen is ready to bring peace, joy, and warmth into your home. Her adoption fee is waived through BARCS' Love Lasts Forever promotion for animals over the age of 5.
If you'd like to meet Queen, please submit an application and email dogfosters@barcs.org- this sweet, snuggly girl is so ready for her happily-ever-after.
