Brotato recently had a sleepover with one of our wonderful volunteers-and he absolutely shined outside the shelter! This sweet boy is a total love bug who spent most of his time snuggled up on the couch, soaking in all the affection he could get.
In the home, Brotato showed that he's a polite and gentle guest. He appears to be housetrained, only having one accident right after arriving in the new space. Once settled, he slept peacefully through the night. While he has his playful bursts-especially when a squeaky toy or stuffed bone is involved-he's just as happy to nap the day away next to his person. He gently nibbled on toys without destroying them, and showed no interest in small animals like birds.
He encountered several people during his outing and was friendly and curious with every one of them. Loud noises occasionally startled him, but he wasn't bothered by thunderstorms or the sound of passing trains in the city. He did show some hesitation around doorways and elevators, but with patience, he worked through it.
On walks, Brotato was interested in other dogs and would pull a bit to say hello, but he never barked-even when other dogs barked at him. He was easy to redirect and responded well to a harness-style leash, which helped reduce pulling. He did display some puppy-like behavior, but it was always affectionate and easily redirected with a toy or a calm "no."
Brotato was described as a totally different dog outside the shelter-calm, loving, eager to learn, and clearly ready to bond. He's looking for a home where he can keep growing into the amazing companion he's already proving to be.
Brotato has met other dogs at the shelter, he is a social playful boy! He may need to meet any doggie roommates to make sure they are a good match.
