Ithaca is a gentle, affectionate girl with a heart full of love and a growing fan club. Since moving into her foster home, she's been showing just how easy and delightful she is to live with. Fully house-trained, Ithaca has had no accidents indoors and sleeps soundly through the night-making her an ideal roommate.
While crates aren't her thing (she's a bit of an escape artist and has proven she can wriggle out of one!), she does beautifully when given the freedom to roam the home. As long as counters and dishes are cleared, she doesn't get into anything and simply lounges on the couch like the chill companion she is.
Ithaca is great on a leash and enjoys her walks-if she has a little energy to burn, she might pull briefly, but she responds well to redirection. That said, if she had her way, she'd choose a car ride over a walk any day! She *loves* riding in the car and happily hops in whenever the opportunity arises. She's even spent time in an office with her foster and was a model employee: calm, friendly, and content to nap under the desk between pet sessions.
She's met children around 8 years old and up and done very well with them. She doesn't jump up on her foster, but may get a little excited and bouncy when meeting new people-something she's actively working on and improving with practice.
Ithaca has also met other dogs at the shelter and tends to do best with gentle companions. A meet-and-greet with any resident dogs would be helpful to ensure a good match.
If you're looking for a mellow, loving pup who will be your ultimate car ride buddy, couch co-pilot, and all-around sweetheart, Ithaca might just be your perfect match. She's currently in a foster home-email dogfosters@barcs.org to be connected with her foster family and learn more about this special girl!
