Meet Maddie-a 1-year-old, 39-pound cuddlebug who's equal parts zoomies and snuggles. Since arriving as a stray, Maddie has settled beautifully into her foster home and quickly revealed just how special she is. With her soft eyes, wiggly excitement, and love of human connection, she's the kind of dog who makes fast friends and even faster lap landings (yes, she will sprawl across you like a weighted blanket with legs).
Maddie is a happy, affectionate girl who adores being close to her people. If you're sitting down, she'll take it as her cue to climb right into your lap-and once she's there, she's staying put. She's also a big fan of chasing balls, playing tug-of-war, and trotting around with her favorite bone like it's buried treasure. And don't let her snuggle skills fool you-this girl loves to run! Maddie makes an excellent jogging partner and has been impressing on leash walks with her calm, responsive demeanor.
She knows several basic cues, including "sit," "lay down," and "touch," and continues to build on her training with ease. Indoors, she's quiet, house-trained, and thrives on routine and companionship. Maddie's shown great behavior around the kids in her foster home (ages 7 and 11). While she may get a little excited and bouncy during play, it's all part of her goofy, joyful energy.
Maddie has been friendly and curious when meeting other dogs, especially those with gentle play styles. She's met a few dogs at BARCS and would love a meet-and-greet with any potential canine siblings. She's also had brief exposure to cats without any issues.
She recently joined volunteers on a Dog's Day Out adventure along the BWI trails and was a total star-sweet in the car, playful with her toys, and happy to hop on agility equipment like a pro. Whether she's zooming in the yard or curled up for a movie night (preferably on top of you), Maddie is the full package: fun, smart, and full of love.
Maddie is currently in a foster home. If you'd like to learn more or meet her, please complete an application and email dogfosters@barcs.org to be connected with her foster family. Maddie is ready to find her person-and she's saving a spot in your lap already.
