Meet Dragonfly! He came to BARCS as a stray, the finder reported he was friendly and easily handled. This handsome, friendly boy is ready to charm his way into your heart! Dragonfly walks beautifully on the leash and already knows "sit." He loves gentle pets and is wonderfully engaged with his person-always checking in and happy to be by your side.

And let's talk about that nub! It might just be the cutest thing you'll see all day, especially when it starts wagging the moment you tell him he's a good boy (which he definitely is). If you're looking for a sweet, well-mannered companion with a heart of gold and a wag that'll make you smile, Dragonfly might be your perfect match.

Dragonfly recently had a sleepover with one of our amazing volunteers, and she had nothing but wonderful things to say about him. This big, goofy sweetheart is just as gentle and lovable outside the shelter as he is within it.

When picked up, Dragonfly hopped into the car pretty quickly and quietly observed the world go by. He didn't bark or whine-just shifted around trying to get comfy, especially with those big legs and big paws that make him feel like a tiny pony in a human-sized vehicle. On the way home, he enjoyed a pup cup and met some new people who were all struck by how friendly and well-mannered he was.

At the house, Dragonfly explored the yard a bit and went for a short walk-it was a hot day, and he preferred to keep things brief. He didn't react to other dogs, animals, or even a barking dog behind a gate. At one point, he tried to hide in some ivy (classic Dragonfly), and of course, he broke into his signature goofy roll. He seemed most at ease indoors and always gravitated back inside when given the choice.

Inside, he was the perfect houseguest. After a little anxious pacing as he adjusted, he curled up on a dog bed, let out a big sigh, and fell fast asleep. He was calm, low-energy, and gently curious. He showed interest in toys but didn't get rowdy, loved all kinds of affection-especially chin rubs-and would give a polite paw tap if you stopped petting too soon. Dragonfly didn't jump on the furniture unless invited, and when he did climb up, it was more of a graceful pour than a leap. He mostly chose the dog bed or floor and quietly enjoyed a Scandinavian detective thriller with his foster for the evening.

Dragonfly had no accidents during his visit. He waited until morning to go outside, gently nudged his foster awake with his muzzle, and did all of his business before coming back in for a nap. He did pull a bit more on leash than he does at the shelter, but responded well with gentle guidance-he just needs a little practice in new environments.

Dragonfly is sweet, wiggly, and full of love. He's not only big in size, but also in heart. He didn't make a single peep the whole visit and left a lasting impression as one of the gentlest, affectionate dogs around. He'd make a wonderful companion and would also be an excellent foster candidate for someone who can give him a calm space to settle and build confidence.

Dragonfly has met other dog pals at BARCS, he is tolerant of his friends and does best with gentle dog pals. He may need to meet any doggie roommates to make sure they are a good match.

Come down to BARCS and meet Dragonfly!
