Meet Pita! He came to BARCS at no fault of his own. His family reported that he loves running and playing with toys. He is housebroken and can be crated. He was living with 2 children, 12 and 15 years old, and did well with them.
This stocky, 58-pound sweetheart with the cutest eye patch is ready to find his forever family! Pita may be a little shy at first, but once he's leashed up, he quickly relaxes and leans in for affection and pets. He's an excellent walker, preferring a martingale collar and clip leash, and he knows his "sit" command like a pro. Pita loves exploring, hopping on agility equipment, and showing off his playful side with toys-especially when he gets to trot around proudly shaking them or chasing after them when thrown.
Pita has also spent time in a staff member's office, where he proved he can be left alone without bothering anything. He's a calm, well-mannered boy who just loves being close to his people.
Recently, Pita enjoyed a Dog's Day Out adventure to Patapsco State Park! He had a blast lounging in the shade, taking in all the good smells, enjoying some hot dogs, and riding quietly in the car. He soaked up the fresh air and dished out kisses, showing his sweet and cuddly personality.
Pita also had a weekend sleepover with a volunteer, where he showed off even more of his wonderful traits. He's housebroken, enjoys cuddling and quality time, and was friendly with everyone he met, including a housemate. One of the most memorable moments? Waking up to find Pita patiently waiting, gently resting on his foster's chest, just ready for a new day together.
Pita has met other dogs at the shelter, and he is a social rowdy player. He likes a good game of chase, and then will putz around calmly with his friends. He also did well with small dogs. He previously lived with a cat as well.
Pita is the perfect mix of snuggly and curious, chill yet playful. Whether it's exploring the outdoors, relaxing at home, or simply being by your side, Pita is happiest when he's with his people. He's a good boy looking for someone to love him as much as he'll love them.
