Arbor, affectionately known as Fifi or Fiona by her foster family, is a tender-hearted, quietly curious girl who's learning how to trust the world at her own pace. Once a stray, she came to BARCS unsure of people and her surroundings, but with time, patience, and love, she's blossoming into a gentle companion with a calm, soulful presence.

This sweet girl doesn't seek attention loudly-she simply wants to be near you. Whether she's curled up on the couch or nestled at your feet, Arbor is a comforting, steady presence in the home. She's not into high-energy games but delights in plush toys, soft blankets, and cozy corners. Her zoomies are reserved for brief spurts in the morning and at bedtime, which is all the exercise she really needs.

Though new experiences still make her a bit cautious-especially thresholds, stairs, and sudden sounds-Arbor has been making daily progress. She now walks well on a leash, is relaxed in her crate, and has met other dogs with polite curiosity. She's tolerant of nail trims and brushing, and even wears coats or costumes with no complaints. Thunderstorms? No problem. Loud TVs? Maybe a little spooky at first, but she's adjusting beautifully.

Arbor is nearly fully potty trained and lets you know she needs to go out with an adorable little hop. She takes treats gently and is especially motivated by Beggin' Strips and, really, any treat you offer. She's not interested in learning lots of tricks right now-she knows "down" and prefers to spend her time being near her people rather than performing for them.

While she's calm and mellow, Arbor does have one behavior that needs a watchful eye: she tends to bolt through open doors. This likely stems from her anxiety around thresholds, so a secure entryway is a must while she continues working on this. She also has a charming habit of collecting household objects-soft things, especially-and relocating them for her comfort, like a little magpie.

Arbor has discovered a new favorite toy-soft soccer balls-and still loves playing chase as her go-to form of fun. She's also started showing some interest in tennis balls, though she's not much of a retriever. On the housebreaking front, progress has plateaued; despite following a consistent routine, she has not begun signaling when she needs to go outside.

Arbor has great house manners-no begging at the table, no need for a fast-paced lifestyle, and she enjoys all types of weather. She likes kids, is comfortable around them, and gives a little alert when someone enters the house.

If you're looking for a soft, quiet companion who thrives in a peaceful environment and rewards patience with unwavering affection, Arbor may be your perfect match. To meet her or learn more, complete an application and email dogfosters@barcs.org to be connected with her foster family.
