Benevolent, affectionately known as Bennie, is a gentle and sweet dog who can be a bit shy when you first meet her, especially at the kennel. However, once she warms up, she becomes affectionate, playful, and incredibly loving. Bennie adores belly rubs, pets, and cuddling with her people. She has a cute habit of doing a little army crawl when she's feeling playful, and she loves rolling around and playing with toys.

Bennie is highly treat-motivated, which makes training a breeze. She knows commands like "sit" and is working on her leash manners. She is very gentle when taking treats and is generally a well-behaved girl who rarely pulls on the leash. She enjoys walks and is curious about other dogs and people but is never aggressive-she just wants to sniff and say hello. Bennie is also good with other animals like birds, though she may try to chase the occasional squirrel.

Bennie recently went on a dog's day out adventure, where she did great in the car, enjoying the fresh air from the window. She was social, sweet, and loved meeting new people, receiving pets and kisses along the way. Although she likes to meet people on her own terms and can be a bit shy initially, she quickly warms up and even started giving cuddles by the end of her day out. Bennie has also met other dogs at the shelter and prefers gentle and polite playmates.

In her foster home, Bennie has proven to be the biggest cuddle bug. She loves laying on the couch, going on car rides, sitting outside, and simply being with her people. She's usually excited when her people come home, often jumping up to give them kisses. She also gets excited for walks but settles down quickly afterward, returning to her favorite spot on the couch. Bennie rarely barks, and if she does, it's just a single quiet bark.

Bennie would be a great match for a single person, a couple, or a family with older kids. She's a shadow who loves to follow her people around and would do best in a home where she's not left alone for long periods. While she does fine with a dog sitter, she much prefers the company of her humans.

Bennie is housebroken and easy to train, making her a truly great pet. If you're looking for a loyal and loving companion, Bennie might be the perfect dog for you. She's currently in a foster home awaiting her forever family. If you're interested in meeting her, please email dogfosters@barcs.org to connect with her foster family!
