Meet Blaze! This stunning 5-year-old pup is ready to find his forever home! Blaze is housebroken and has a lovely personality that shines through his beautiful markings and striking blue eye. He knows how to "sit" and is working on his leash skills, with just occasional moments of excitement that lead to some pulling. Blaze is curious about his surroundings and will take notice of squirrels, but he's easily redirected and will keep walking if you encourage him.
Handsome Blaze had a fun and cozy slumber party weekend with a volunteer, filled with walks, playtime with toys, and plenty of snuggles. While the volunteer worked from home, Blaze settled comfortably on the couch, happy to keep them company. He's incredibly food- and treat-motivated, performing a perfect sit in exchange for a reward. During his stay, Blaze began learning house rules and showed he's completely housebroken, going to the door when he needed to go outside.
Blaze absolutely adored belly rubs and being pet, often insisting on affection by forcing his head under your arm or stretching out on your lap for belly rubs-it's adorable, but he makes it clear that belly rubs aren't optional! At night, he loved to snuggle up close, always wanting to be touching you as he slept. Although a little nervous as he settled into the new environment, Blaze's heart of gold shone through. He could use some leash training and can be jumpy when excited, but with a little guidance, he's sure to thrive.
Blaze has met other dogs at the shelter, he does best with tolerant and socially savvy friends. He will need to meet any potential doggie roommates to make sure they are a good match. He is eligible to come back to BARCS for social sessions.
