Meet Lilo!
Lilo came from a situation where he was constantly surrounded by other dogs and had very little contact with humans. While he may do well in an environment with a housemate, Lilo will take a while to become acclimated to his new surroundings. When Lilo arrived he was very fearful of humans but during his time here he has come to realize people provide fun and good food! His current behaviors lead us to believe that fetch and tug are his favorite games and butt scratches are a must. When Lilo becomes comfortable with his surroundings he will show his goofy, fun seeking, affectionate self to everyone. Lilo would benefit from continued exposure to other animals, people and places. He LOVES to play with other dogs and would be a fabulous addition to an active family. It will likely take a few consistent visits from the right family before he will be able to go home with them. He will need someone with patience, the ability to work with him consistently, and provide him with a safe and structured environment.
Please note that the Schnauzers in our care do not appear to have had very much human handling prior to transferring to us, so they are still learning to trust people. We are still working with them to create positive associations with human touch and are hopeful that the right homes will continue these practices.
