I'm Zoey, a sweet and snuggly 10-month-old Basset mix who is looking for my forever family. I came to BROOD after my previous family adopted me from an animal shelter and soon realized I had too much energy for them.
I am full of curiosity and love learning new things. I am friendly and energetic and quite agile for a small hound--I weigh only 38 pounds. I would do well in a home with someone that likes to walk and who will play with me. I am crate trained and keep my kennel dry overnight, too.
It doesn't take me long to bond with my people-I love being close to my family, and I thrive on attention. That's why I need to be the only dog in the home--I want all the cuddles and affection for myself! I also don't get along with cats and will happily chase them around, so a cat-free home is best for me. I love playing with toys and can often entertain myself with play.
While I may still be discovering my personality, one thing is for sure: I'm great with kids and love spending time with them. Due to my energy level and tendency to jump up, I would be best in a home with older children. Whether we are playing or cuddling, I am always ready for fun.

We adopt to residents of Virginia, Maryland, West Virginia, DC, Delaware, and southern Pennsylvania. Do not apply to adopt from BROOD if you live in another state. We require a virtual home visit and a veterinary reference.
The age of many BROOD dogs is unknown, as very few come with official records. The estimate on the dog's age is usually the initial estimate given by the receiving shelter, which may be different from that given at the time of the initial checkup. Different veterinarians may also give different ages, and those different opinions are sometimes reflected on the record. ***BROOD's adoption fees are determined based on the age of the dog. 12/23/2024
