Hi there, I'm Spike, a 64-pound Terrier mix with a gentle heart that's just feeling a little overwhelmed right now. Being in new places can be really scary for me, and when I'm unsure, I tend to tuck myself away in a quiet corner where I feel safer. I came in with my friend Suka, and even though we're not inseparable, having her around could really help boost my confidence. I actually feel a bit braver when I'm outside, where I can move around and take in the fresh air, but I still run back inside to my safe spot once it gets to be too much. Even through all my nerves, I'm very sweet and enjoy gentle pets and ear rubs when someone takes the time to be kind and patient with me. I'm looking for a calm, quiet home without small kids, where I can truly decompress and take my time learning that I'm safe. I may not show much of my personality at first, but with patience, consistency, and a loving environment, I know I'll slowly start to come out of my shell. I need someone who understands dogs like me and is willing to let me open up at my own pace. Under all this fear is a loyal, loving boy just waiting for the right person to give him a chance.
My adoption fee of $225+tax covers the cost of my care and stay here at the humane society.
All Pennington County residents must also pay an additional $8 licensing fee at time of adoption.
