Meet Dizzy - or should we say, Dizzy meet the world I first met Dizzy at the Houston Humane Society back in November after she was brought in with a serious head injury. A kind woman who feeds a local feral colony noticed swelling on the left side of Dizzy's face and got her help right away. We may never know exactly what happened, but the vet believed her injuries were
consistent with blunt-force trauma. At the time, they weren't even sure she would survive... but Dizzy had other plans. She made an incredible recovery and was even featured as Pet of the Month on KRBC News.
I was sure someone would scoop her up right away. But no one did. Maybe it was because she's a little black kitty. Maybe because of her funny back legs. But I knew there was a whole personality inside her just waiting to shine. Within three days of coming home, Dizzy was exploring the house like she owned it. I already had three cats, and she walked right up, booped noses, and instantly became part of the crew - even winning over my grumpy one. She's fantastic with other cats. Dizzy loves toys - springs, catnip mice, balls... it doesn't matter. Give her something to chase and she's entertained for hours. She loves food, thinks water bowls are for splashing (yes, messy... but very cute), and has recently discovered both sprinklers and her own meow - both of which still surprise her every time. Her injury is mostly behind her. After naps, one back leg may wiggle a little, and she has
the sweetest little "winking" eye from the trauma. She can absolutely see, but relies a bit more on the other eye. None of that slows her down - she jumps on furniture, plays hard, and enjoys cozy snuggles. She's:
? Great with other cats
? Litter Trained
? Good with kids
? Comfortable around dogs (just not super interested in them)
? Gentle - no biting, scratching, or growling
? A fan of lysine treats, chicken, and the occasional slice of deli ham
She isn't a huge fan of being picked up - she stretches out like Superman - but it's honestly adorable. Dizzy also adores my grandparents, which makes me think she would be the perfect companion for a senior looking for a little extra love and sweetness in their home.
At just 3 years old, Dizzy has so much life and love left to give. She's survived the hardest part of her story. Now she just needs someone to give her the happy ending she deserves.
