SPECIAL NEEDS: KING JULIEN HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH SEVERE SUBAORTIC STENOSIS, A SERIOUS HEART CONDITION THAT WILL SADLY SHORTEN HIS LIFESPAN. HE WILL NEED DAILY HEART MEDICATION TO SLOW THE PROGRESSION OF HIS CONDITION. HE IS ALSO A TRIPOD.
Meet King Julien! ?? This resilient boy has already overcome more than most dogs ever will, and he's ready to find someone who will give him the chance he deserves.
After being hit by a car, King Julien needed emergency medical care. When his family wasn't equipped to provide the care he needed, the veterinary hospital reached out for help, and we were happy to step up. Due to the severity of his injuries, one of his front legs had to be amputated. We also discovered that he has a serious heart condition that will sadly shorten his life. Despite everything he's been through, King Julien continues to show incredible resilience and a zest for life!
King Julien (or "KJ" for short) is incredibly smart, eager to please, and loves having a job to do. He needs an adopter with working-breed experience who can provide the structure, direction, and positive training he needs to thrive. He's still very much a puppy, so he'll need someone willing to invest time and patience in helping him become the best version of himself. He is house-trained and crate-trained, and he has so much potential!
He gets along with dogs his size who enjoy playing but would do best in a home without cats or small children while he continues to mature and learn his manners.
King Julien is a super sweet boy who deserves a life filled with love, purpose, and adventure. We know his medical needs may make finding a home more challenging, but we also know that the right person will see beyond his challenges and recognize the amazing companion he can be.
