Hello, everyone! My name is Harlie and I came to MaxFund recently after having to part ways with my previous family. Please know that they loved me dearly and would not have given me up if there was another option! In fact, they have a couple of things about me you'd like to know after living with me for most of my life. They say:

"Charlie is sweet, Loyal, Protective of her family, ridiculously smart, a little anxious and incredibly loving. We always joke that when she wants to chase a rabbit, or let another dog know to get off the front lawn, she thinks she's twice her size. And when she wants cuddles or belly rubs she thinks she's half her size. She's knows multiple commands, such as "Sit", "Stay", "Down", "Leave It Alone", "Stay With Me", "Come", etc. She listens and follows directions well, but sometimes can struggle when situations trigger her, and needs extra attention and boundaries when she starts to get "over threshold"...She is not an aggressive dog and has never tried to hurt anyone (dog or person) but is a reactive heeler and given the chaos of our lives with our kids the ages they are and the fact that we live in the city with lots of cyclists, runners and general triggering circumstances, we feel she'd be happier somewhere with perhaps older kids, maybe a bigger dog closer to her age and more room to run and be herself. Charlie simply wasn't made for the chaos of our home in the city, as hard as she's worked to try to fit in we know she would be happier somewhere that can give her what she needs, specifically where a Heeler can be healthiest and happiest: less chaos, more open space, and all the love, bully sticks and belly rubs she deserves."

You can feel the love, right? It's my goal now to fulfil my previous owner's dream: to find a home where the characteristics of my breed can be celebrated instead of the cause for concern. If you have previous experience with herding dogs, especially cattle dogs, I'd love to meet you! If you don't, that's alright too, but know that you should be prepared to WORK! Herding dogs are exceptionally intelligent and need a lot of mental stimulation and physical exercise. I will not be a dog who is a couch potato or who will be content in my crate all day. Let me be with you! Let me run around and play with you! I promise to return your efforts with many years of love to come.

Additionally, you should know that I am on a medication to treat my anxiety. This medication should not be suddenly stopped, so please chat with the staff if you're curious about this! Everyone involved in my care agrees: though I may need a little more selective placement than some other dogs, I'm still a very good girl!

If you're interested in coming to meet me, please head down to the shelter! Please bring the other human and canine members of the family to make sure we all get along.
