Hello! I'm Damu! You can tell just by looking at my picture that I'm a fun, friendly guy, can't you?
I'm a 5.5 year old pittie mix with a whole lot of love to give. I get so excited when people step in my room to visit me that I can't stop wagging my tail. I even like to bring my visitor a gift--a toy, my bowl, whatever! My favorite place in the entire world is YOUR lap! I can be on one side of you and Lupina can be on the other, so you can use each hand to give us belly rubs! That's what your hands are for, right?
I am bonded with the dog Lupina and will only be considered for a home where we can go together. I will not be considered for a home with other dogs as Lupina really is the only one I can tolerate! Small dogs especially are a no-go for me. We walk quite well together despite our large sizes. I can get fixated on other dogs going by, but with a bit of prompting and extra distance I will move on. Rest assured that Lupina and I are potty trained--we've never even had an overnight accident in our kennel!
Lupina and I are both a little bigger than is healthy for dogs, so we are hoping our next home will help us lose some pounds! We have been well-loved in our lives, but as we get on in age, extra pounds intensify joint issues, so it's better for us to be at a healthy weight. I also will need to stay on Apoquel, which helps resolve some problems with my skin. I get red and itchy, so those meds really help me! Because I am on this medication, I'm hoping my next family can take me to the vet every six months or so to get my bloodwork reviewed. Sorry to be a bit of a hassle, but an itchy Damu is not a happy Damu!
