Meet Wyatt Earpp!
Wyatt is a German Shepherd/Husky/Lab mix that was born 12/4/2022. He is full grown at 56 pounds. Wyatt Earpp and his bonded buddy, Doc Holiday, are looking to find a family of their own. Wyatt and Doc were an owner surrender after his family needed help looking to find forever homes, not only for him, but for his siblings too.
They would love to have proper introductions with any resident children or dogs in the home, as they did not grow up around children or other dogs outside of their pack. Since they grew up around many of their siblings, we recommend another dog in the home to help them build confidence, but it is not required. Once they are fully comfortable, they can become excited and may jump up to greet and could potentially knock over young children, but older children may be a little easier for them to trust, as younger children can be scary when they are loud and fast. Wyatt and Doc have not yet been introduced to cats but can be cat tested to see their reactions to them, if there is a furry feline in the home.
Since being at the shelter, they have learned lots of new tricks that that they use every day such as basic commands like sit, down, off, etc., when it is time to go potty and play outside, and how to walk on leash. They may still pull-on leash when they are excited to go on walks or to play outside, but both have come a long way from when they first arrived. Wyatt and Doc are very sweet boys that get excited about their people, once comfortable, but is also still learning how to be a normal dog. They are still a little anxious due to the change of being outside dogs to then being brought into the rescue setting but are now learning that the inside is okay too. They both would do best in a home that is patient, willing to show them new things at their pace, and one that will have time to help them express their energy! Wyatt and Doc would highly benefit with some professional and in person training to help them learn more basic skills that they can use for their socialization and bonding with their new family. Because of his experience of being outside and learning the perks of staying inside throughout the day, he would be able to be adopted as an inside/outside dog. We will require that they have access to a climate-controlled shelter, has access to fresh food and fresh water every day, and that they have plenty of space to exercise safely within a fenced in area.
