Meet Sundance!
Sundance is a German Shepherd/Husky/Lab mix that was born 4/4/2023. He is full grown at 79 pounds. Sundance was an owner surrender after his family needed help looking to find forever homes, not only for him, but for his siblings too.
He would love to have proper introductions with any resident children or dogs in the home, as they did not grow up around children or other dogs outside of their pack. Since they grew up around many of their siblings, we recommend another dog in the home to help them build confidence, but it is not required. Once he is fully comfortable, he can become excited and may jump up to greet and could potentially knock over young children, but older children may be a little easier for them to trust, as younger children can be scary when they are loud and fast. Sundance has not yet been introduced to cats but can be cat tested to see his reactions to them, if there is a furry feline in the home.
Since being at the shelter, he has learned lots of new tricks that he uses every day such as basic commands like sit, shake, down, off, etc., when it is time to go potty and play outside, and how to walk on leash. He may still pull-on leash when he is excited to go on walks or to play outside, but he has come a long way from when he first arrived. Sundance is a very sweet boy that gets excited about his people, once comfortable, but is also still learning how to be a normal dog. They grew up mainly being outside dogs but are now learning that the inside is okay too. He would do best in a home that is patient, willing to show him new things at his pace, and one that will have time to help him express his energy! Sundance would highly benefit with some professional and in person training to help him learn basic skills that he can use for his socialization and bonding with his new family. Because of his experience of being outside and learning the perks of staying inside throughout the day, he would be able to be adopted as an inside/outside dog. We will require that he has access to a climate-controlled shelter, has access to fresh food and fresh water every day, and that he has plenty of space to exercise safely within a fenced in area.
