Max is not going to make the best guard dog. He has never barked once in the six months his family had him. He is also shy and wary of strangers and doesn't want to alarm anyone. He already weighs 50 pounds even though he is just a kid, probably because of his love of treats. He is very active and likes running, tugging, toys, and walks. He is not fond of being by himself and will whine when he is lonely. He has a lot to learn. He needs help with his leash walking (he pulls and jumps) and house training (has accidents inside). He spent his days either outside, freely roaming the house, or in a crate. He is cautious and fearful around other dogs but is polite when meeting them during walks. He has no experience with children. He loves to be petted. He was given up because his family could no longer afford to care for him. He is a mischief maker and got into trouble for chewing, jumping, digging, and racing out the door. He would like an active family to do fun things with him.
