Maisy arrived in May as a stray, with a bladder infection, ear infection and several masses on her body. After being examined by our medical team, she received two surgeries to spay her and remove mammary masses from her body. Once biopsied, it was confirmed that they were cancerous.
Despite living with cancer, Maisy remains a sweet & friendly girl, who adores affection. She is looking for a home she can be the only dog so she can get all of the attention on her. She would do best in a home with a family consisting of a single person, couple or family with children that all have lived with big dogs before as she sometimes doesn't know her size. She has displayed some separation anxiety so her new family ideally would not need to leave her home for long periods of time alone. She continues to be comfortable, happy and thriving. As a result, our team is searching for a truly special and loving hospice home where Maisy can spend her remaining days. We will admit, the time she has left with us may be limited, but we can't say for sure. Because we know that her family may be taking on a larger veterinary cost within the next year, we are waiving her adoption fee. **For more information on any behaviours stated above, please check out our behaviour fact sheet: https://kwsphumane.ca/BehavioursandDefinitions **Please remember that animals are coming back from foster care to the centres for their meet and greets. They will be experiencing a new environment and meeting new people, which means they may not exhibit the same behaviours they did in their foster videos or while in foster care.
