Hello, my name is Strontium and I am a 3-year-old chihuahua poodle mix (chipoo for short!). I was rescued with 74 other dogs from a home in Northern Colorado. I am still very scared and have very little socialization. I have been living in a foster home with one of my siblings to help socialize me, and I am making slow progress.
I may take a while to come around, but so many of my brothers and sisters have already found their forever homes, I think I may be ready for mine. I will take multiple meet and greets to begin trusting you, and I will not be a lap dog or very cuddly for quite some time when you take me home. I am slowly warming up to my foster family, but they are not sure when I will be comfortable with human touch.
I need to go to a home with a backyard and without young children, they would be too much for me, and I am not eligible for apartment living. I need to be around people who will show me love, but let me come to come to them. Patience is going to be key with me.
Do you have any other dogs in the home? Please bring them with you so we can meet and see if we get along! There were almost 200 of us living in one house, so I can't imagine in not working out! I would benefit from having another dog in the house who is socialized and can teach me how to be apart of the family. My foster sibling helps me feel more comfortable, and I bond more easily with dogs than humans.
