Are you looking for an adventurous pup that can be a cuddle bug too? Then look no further then Crème Brulee!
~ Bru is a super sweet boy looking of a home with a single person, couple, or family with older children as he will be a big boy when he grows up! ~ Since Bru is a still a young puppy, he will need to be signed up for three in person positive reinforcement training classes before he can go home to help him become the best boy ever! ~ Bru will also need to have a booked appointment with your veterinarian within the first week of adoption. ~ Bru is going to need a special family that's willing to take extra steps to help with his medical condition. Our vet has made a brief explanation of his current condition: While in care, he became suddenly ill with what we suspect is Steroid-Responsive Meningitis Arteritis (SRMA), which is an auto-immune illness that can often affect young dogs. Why an individual dog may develop this illness is not known. "He was treated with steroids and responded very well to treatment, and his meningitis has resolved. As is typical of steroid treatment, he is currently being weaned off his medication very slowly. This means he will still be on medication at the time of adoption. His adopter should have his medical records transferred to their vet prior to finalizing the adoption, and will be required to have an appointment booked within 1 week of him leaving the shelter, in order to ensure that he continues to receive care for his condition. His medication cannot be suddenly discontinued, as this puts him at high risk of relapse. We will provide sufficient medication so that he will not run out prior to his first veterinary appointment. (he is currently on one pill twice daily and takes his medication readily, I believe....) Statistically there is a 20-30% chance that he may have a relapse of meningitis, usually within the first 2 years. Relapses generally respond well to the same steroid treatment as he has been receiving." If Brew sounds like the perfect fit for your family, please submit an application asap! He can't wait to meet you! NOTE: **For more information on any behaviours stated above, please check out our behaviour fact sheet: https://kwsphumane.ca/BehavioursandDefinitions **Please remember that animals are coming back from foster care to the centres for their meet and greets. They will be experiencing a new environment and meeting new people, which means they may not exhibit the same behaviours they did in their foster videos or while in foster care.
