I'm Meowser, and after 2.5 years of waiting for a home, I'm still holding onto hope - but some days, it's not easy.
I came to the shelter in December 2022, the same day as my friend Willis, who just found his forever home. That makes me the longest resident here now.
I arrived as part of a cruelty case, afraid, overwhelmed, and uncertain, hiding myself away from everyone. But the people here never gave up on me. They were patient. They gave me time and space. And they let me come forward when I was ready.
Now, I seek out gentle company and soft affection. I love being close to someone who understands that healing doesn't happen overnight. I still startle if approached too quickly, but if you sit patiently and offer your presence, I'll let you pet me, being so very grateful for our moment together.
One of my greatest comforts? Other cats. I adore them. I've become a maternal figure to many of my kitty roommates here over the years, grooming them, snuggling with them, and helping them feel safe as they wait for a home. I'd absolutely thrive living with another calm, friendly feline. Dogs, though, are a bit too much for me, but I might be okay living with one who is mellow.
So if your home is peaceful, your heart is open, and you believe in second chances, I hope with every part of me that I'm the one you've been waiting for. I may not be flashy or demanding, but I'm wise, sincere, and full of quiet love to share with my special someone.
