It seems that Della's former owner moved away and left her abandoned and pregnant in the house. She was rescued by a kind soul who found her chained and padlocked inside the house with no food or water in horribly unsanitary conditions, desperately trying to care for her 8 puppies, only 3 of which had survived. She was severely emaciated due to giving all of her nutrients to the puppies she had left. Sadly, Della's puppies had to be taken from her after she had to undergo emergency spay surgery due to a severe infection. Our sweet mama recovered well and started treatment after testing positive for heartworms. This girl just cannot catch a break. She has now finished treatment and is ready for her forever home.
All Della wants is to be loved, and she has the sweetest disposition. She would do best as an only pet in the home so she can get all the love and attention she was deprived from before she was rescued. She is such a loving girl and gets the whole body wiggles when she is happy! She will make a wonderful addition to any family!
