It is our pleasure to introduce you to our Pretty Penny. Penny was surrendered to us after she was no longer getting along with the other resident dog. She was not a happy camper when she first arrived but has since shown us her true colours and kindness. Penny is doing very well with us and is improving every day.
Penny has lived with children of all ages and would be great in a family environment. Our girl is housetrained and when kept on a bathroom routine, does not have accidents in the home. Penny's previous family suggested that she be crated when unsupervised as she has been known to chew in things that she's not supposed to. She does well in her crate and shows no opposition to spending time in it. She has shown significant improvement around other dogs, while on pack walks and we are so proud of her for that! She has mostly been walking with male dogs and there have been no nose-to-nose interaction which has aided in her success. Penny cannot be placed in a home with small animals as she does have a high prey drive and will pursue them, but another dog is a possibility if she has multiple successful meet and greets. Penny knows basic commands such as sit, down, come, wait and off. Her recall does need improvement, but that is something an adopter can work on with her through training. Penny loves to play and has a great time when she's given tennis balls, rope toys, sticks, squeaky toys and unfortunately the occasional shoe. She loves tug-of-war and to play chase with her people. A couple things that Penny does not enjoy are windshield wipers, fireworks and the vacuum. If you would like to come and meet our Pretty Penny, come by the Welland shelter for a visit! |
