Hi there! My name is Teyla and I'm looking for a home that can give me lots of love! Check out my interview I did!

INTERVIEWER: We're almost ready to begin our interview with Teyla, but it's a little hard getting set up in her favourite hiding spot, under the bed.

TEYLA: I might be persuaded to come out for a bribe. Are those fish treats I smell?

I: Sure are. Would you like some?

T: *Om nom nom nom*

I: I'll take that as a "yes." I guess it's safe to say the way to your heart is through your stomach?

T: Yup! I'll usually brave a scary situation to eat some tasty wet food.

I: And what situations do you consider scary?

T: All of them, haha! I really don't like new places, loud noises, or sudden movements. Which is frustrating because I love people and want to be social, but all the changes from my old home to the shelter to foster care and back again have really shaken me up.

I: So your ideal forever home will be someplace calm and quiet?

T: I hope so! I just need someone with the patience to let me come out of my shell at my own pace. Once I'm used to a new place my true personality will shine through!

I: What do you like to do when you're not scared?

T: Oh, I love to play! My foster parents say I "bounce off the walls" when batting balls and catnip toys in my room by myself. And when they drag a wand toy around, oh boy! I love chasing those things! I'm only three years old, so I still have lots of energy and need playtime every day.

I: That sounds super fun. And what about cuddle time? Do you consider yourself a lap cat?

T: Maybe a lap cat in the making... I love to be petted but I'm still not too sure about being picked up--I don't struggle but it makes me very anxious. That kind of trust will come with time.

I: But back pets and face scratches are all right?

T: *flops and rolls for pets* Oh yes!

*Transcriber's note: Interviewer's comments were inaudible over all the purring!

T: Don't let my shy nature fool you--I love attention!

I: Any quirks we should know about?

T: Well, I do have an airy meow. Some people might mistake it for a hiss, but it's not! I just have trouble finding my voice sometimes. And I really love scratching cardboard. Those replaceable cardboard tube scratching posts and incline scratchers are my favourite!

I: Well, thank you for speaking with me. Your true personality definitely matches your lovely tabby-tortie colouring and luxurious fur!

T: Thank you! I can't wait to meet my new forever family!

***NOTE*** Please remember that animals are coming back from foster care to the centres for their meet and greets. They will be experiencing a new environment and meeting new people, which means they may not exhibit the same behaviours they did in their foster videos or while in foster care.
