Hey there all you guys and gals looking for an extra spunky buddy, my name is Ty! I am devastatingly handsome if I do say so myself, and get lots of compliments on my gold eyes, fancy eye patch, and ears that are half stand up and half floppy. I'm a young guy, and I have lots and lots of energy, but unfortunately when I was a wee pupper, no one really taught me any manners so now I tend to get a little wild and excited sometimes. I mean, who wouldn't, there are so many awesome things to see and do in the big outside world - hiking, I hope you like hiking! I have really been working with my friends here at the PSPCA on my adult manners because apparently most hoomans are not fond of having a big lug like me jumping up in their face and trying to grab at their clothes. The good news is that I am a really smart guy and I've been learning lots of life skills for when I pick my new home. Be sure to read more about my awesome training plan below and email my friends on the Behavior team at behavior@pspca.org to learn more about me.

Ty is a member of our Arousal Management and Treatment program which was developed to help dogs who may have arousal or reactivity behavior challenges. Often these dogs are young, very smart, and easily excited by life around them; many of them did not get much training when they were young and need help with their adult doggy manners. The Arousal Program is a focused training protocol designed to help them get adopted sooner and then transition smoothly into their new lives with their fur-ever family. These dogs participate in a documented training plan aimed at providing them with basic manners as well as useful skills such as place training and crate training. The best part? The dogs think we're playing games and they love winning!
Adopters of a dog participating in the Arousal Program will benefit from three pre-adoption training sessions designed to show you how their training program works and how you can continue that training at home. They will also benefit from three post-adoption training sessions (via video chat) to ensure that their new pup is settling in and continuing to build on their skills.
