Meet Barack, the commander in chief of happiness and tail wags! This good boy is a perfect combo of affectionate and independent. Barack is part lab, part pittie. He is a toy lover and will make sure to parade them around for show and tell (definitely his lab side) before he sets to work nibbling on them. He's mastered the pittie side-eye and expertly uses it to beg from some bites of your food. He mostly entertains himself during the day but will be sure to politely nudge you when he needs some pets.

He is working on loose leash walking with his foster family, and is treat motivated and excited to engage with his person. At the shelter he met and played well with a younger, bouncy dog. He showed great body language and communication. On lead he shows interest in other dogs but is non-reactive and responds well to distraction to let dogs pass that might need space. He has done well during a shelter break in a condo but might enjoy a yard to lounge in.

Inside he is quite the gentleman! He is potty trained and prefers his beds to the furniture. He has shown little to no reaction to loud noises and even thunder! He also does great when left alone and is trusted to free roam in his foster home. He settles nicely in the car but is more about the destination (the park!) than the journey.

The Seattle Animal Shelter is committed to reducing length of stay for all of our shelter pets! Some pets qualify for FREE or reduced adoption fees, please inquire with our Animal Care team to learn more.

Pets are complex beings and prior to adoption, interested adopters will be counseled by a staff member to discuss the specific needs for each animal. This will include reviewing all known medical and behavior information.

** Please note that some animals will receive numerous inquiries, sometimes more than we can process. We appreciate you're understanding and patience. **
