Meet Topaz!

This long haired beauty came to us in the summer time. She was one of the many cats that were trapped at a local colony in Gananoque.

Topaz is very shy and would benefit from ongoing socialization. There was a point in time where volunteers couldn't pet or touch her without getting swatted and growled at, but she has come a long way. She is still very quiet, calm and independent. She enjoys being pet, scratched and brushed, however, she needs someone that is slow and understanding of her and where she's at in learning to trust.

In September, Topaz had severe sterile cystitis, which means inflammation of the bladder. This is an exclusionary diagnosis that was made once all of the common or known causes of the clinical signs had been eliminated and/or treated, in other words, her bladder gets angry when she stressed. She had a urine recheck in November and it came back normal. She is not on any medications at this time, however, she is on a veterinary prescribed urinary diet that will likely have to be maintained for the rest of her life, but this should be reviewed with her new home's veterinarian after she's settled in.

Topaz is looking for a quiet home that can help her grow into the beautiful cat we know she can be; someone who is understanding of her urinary needs and willing to be patient with her as she builds her confidence with people more would be the ideal match. We don't think any young children would be a good for Topaz and we don't know how she is with dogs.

This beautiful girl is looking for the purrfect home, could that be you?
