Meet Petal!

Petal came into GDHS a year ago. She came in as a stray that had been hanging around for months in someone's back yard. She was declawed and extremely overweight, so she must have been someone's pet at some point not long before coming to us.

Petal is now available for adoption, however, not free roaming in the lobby as she is cat aggressive. Petal is looking for somewhere where she can be the queen of her own castle. She enjoys affection but only on her terms and is very, very food motivated.

Petal is currently on a chemotherapy medication to help with her diagnosis of Pemphigus Follaceus. Pemphigus Follaceus is an autoimmune skin disease that is characterized by the production of antibodies against antigens in or near the epidermal cell membrane. In Petal's case it attacks her soft tissues, mainly her toe pads and her ears. Petal is also on a steroid to help with the flare ups and omega 3's that she gladly takes on her weight loss veterinary prescribed diet.

Petal has had multiple blood panels done, and will continue to need them every 3 months. She's also had a dental since she's been with us.

Petal has a calm demeanour, and is looking for a quiet household that is comfortable with giving her medications. She does opt for biting when irritated, as many declawed cats do, however we believe she will be more calm in a stable environment, that's less stressful for her than the shelter.

Petal's diagnosis is chronic, but we're hoping she can end up in a home for her senior years! After all she's been through, we believe she deserves a loving home to live out the remainder of her life!
