Hey there - my name is Pearl. Some people call me "Miss Pearl" or "Pearly Girl", but I pretty much know my name by now, so I will respond to any of those! I'm told that "pearls" are known to attract wealth and luck. Well I don't know about the wealth part, but my luck sure turned around when I came to MaxFund back in April of 2019.

You see, I was found by a good Samaritan in Denver, and they were nice enough to bring me here to MaxFund so that I could get healthy and find a good home. They don't know anything about my past though - a girl has to have her secrets, right? I was not in very good shape when I got here. I was very skinny, my hair was severely matted to my skin, and they found out I had hyperthyroidism. Life at the shelter has been an adjustment for me since I previously had to fend for myself, but I was glad that I had a warm place to sleep and good food to eat. I shared a room with several other cats and was allowed to free roam.

Then back in October of 2019, my luck changed again, and things got even better for me thankfully. The nice people here at MaxFund sent me for treatment for my thyroid, and I am happy to report that I have a normal thyroid and am no longer on any medication for it. But getting treatment for my thyroid was not even the best part.....a nice volunteer decided to foster me while I got better and until I could find my forever home!

Once I got to my foster home after my treatment, my hair started to grow back, and I started gaining my weight back. They did find out that I also had some gastrointestinal issues, but I'm taking medication for it, and I'm doing fine now with that. The important thing to know is that I started to learn to trust humans again. It's taking me a while to get there, but my foster mom is very patient with me. I have even rewarded her with some content purring, head butting, and an occasional kiss or two when I get head pets and scratches! I am told I don't even look like the same cat - even more beautiful than before, I'm thinking!!! They didn't know how beautiful my fur was going to be!

So, while I'm doing so much better, things could be even better for me if I could find the perfect home for me. I have come so far already, and I just need a family that would allow me to continue growing and learning what it is to be a part of a family. I would need a quiet home without small children or other pets, please. While I have lived with other cats at the shelter and in my foster home, I am not a big fan of them. As long as they don't get into my personal space, I'm ok - I'm just not happy about it. I need a family that would understand that I need time and patience to trust you, a family that can acknowledge my personal boundaries, and one that would make sure that I maintain my health by getting regular medical checkups.

I am hopeful that my forever family is out there for me - a family that will give me all the love I need to help me blossom into a lifelong family member. Could you be that family for me?
