Aurora arrived at Pet Helpers in May of 2019 after spending the first five years of her life living on the end of a four foot chain. Since she was a 4 month old puppy, Aurora was bound to a tree, heavily tethered with very little exposure to the outside world. She was never given the opportunity to run free, make dog friends and learn affection from human touch and companionship. Through the combined efforts of animal control and Unchain Charleston she was brought to the shelter, where it took over 20 minutes to cut off the layered collars that had bound her for years. It was here at the shelter that she learned to walk on leash, sleep on beds and play with toys. It was here for the first time in her life she had been touched, in a safe and loving way, and boy has she has grown to adore it! To watch Aurora do zoomies in the yard, free to run and be herself, is a truly magical experience. The shelter has offered her the first steps towards living her best life, and we are asking our community to help her get to that final mile. We are looking for a foster, to work closely with our trainer to teach Aurora in-home skills, and socialize her to the world outside of the shelter. We will be there every step of the way to guide you and her to a place where she can thrive and be adopted into the home she has waited so many years to find.
