Layla is a very sweet girl. She is learning a lot in her foster home, like where to go potty and basic commands, all which are a work in progress, but she is learning. Layla enjoys being outside, soaking up the sun, so a fenced in yard will be required to keep her safe. She gets along with other dogs and likes older kids.

Layla is a special lady who will need a special family. She requires daily seizure medications, and will require these medications for the rest of her life. Layla also needs a calm household, not too active, to help keep her seizures under control. Layla does struggle to go up and down stairs because of hip dysplasia and needs daily supplements and pain medication. Layla needs a home with someone who will be home all day with her to monitor her seizures, a home on one level to accommodate her hip dysplasia, and an adopter who can make frequent trips to the ER and provide her monthly medications. This special girl needs an experienced home, with a family who can care for her needs and monitor her health. If you're interested in learning more about Layla, please complete an application at

Prior to being rescued, many of our dogs have experienced minimal socialization. As a result, there is often an adjustment period when learning about life as a family pet. We typically do not adopt to homes with children under 6 years old; homes with older children will be considered on an individual basis. Common skills such as house training and leash walking will often take a little extra time. Patience, understanding and a gentle hand are a must. The great news is, most of these dogs come around rather quickly and being a part of their rehabilitation is an extremely rewarding experience.
