Lia's Looking for Love!

And she's come to the right place to find it! Lia was living in a large outdoor colony of 26 kitties, being cared for by someone in the community. She knew she would never find the kind of love she was searching for, living off the kindness of strangers, among kitty friends. So, what does she do? She gets herself rescued! Rescue volunteers were helping Trap-Neuter-Release within her colony and, rather than getting released, little Lia was whisked away to a life of luxury indoors! New Year, new address, new hope, and (hopefully) new love!

Lovely Lia is a stunning little mini-panther, sporting adorable white toe tips and soulful green eyes! Prior to being rescued, Lia had minimal interaction with people, so she will be the first to tell you that she is a bit shy. And, while all this constant physical contact with hoomans can be a bit overwhelming, Lia is gaining confidence every week! She is curious about all the goings on in the shelter, and will come to the edge of her enclosure and watch the volunteers work. And when you approach her quietly and slowly, she loves ear and neck rubs!

Since Lia lived in a colony, prior to being rescued, toys are new to her. But she is finding her favorites: the laser is exciting to chase, and those toy mice...they are a challenge! And the feather wand is crazy fun! Now, in the colony, Lia had known the companionship and comfort of other kitties, and volunteers notice that she has found a cuddle buddy in Mickey (also from the Hamilton area). Picture this: Lia climbs into a bunk with Mickey, and he puts a protective paw around her, as they snuggle. Now, who didn't just get all the feels?

So we, at EHS, asked Lia, "What does the love of your life look like?" (We're professional matchmakers, see, and we take our matchmaking seriously.) Well, Lia let us know that the one who will capture her heart, is likely to be an experienced cat owner. Someone who will patiently love her where she's at, and help her to develop her confidence. She is a cat's cat, and would do well living with another friendly feline (like her pal, Mickey, perhaps). What we don't know, for sure, is if Lia would love living with small children or other animals. But, she's still working on her 'perfect match' profile, so once we know her preferences, we'll be updating it in a heartbeat!

Lia wants you to know that she has FIV, which is a virus that weakens the immune system of a cat. It is not transmittable to humans or other species. Cats who have FIV can live just as long as other cats if they are properly cared for, with a good diet, indoor home, loving family, and vet checkups twice a year. Lia does not require medication.

Lia's looking for love! Are you searching for love, too? Then come and meet her at EHS today, and see if Lia isn't the love of your life!

Each of our cats is spayed/neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, snap tested for FIV/FeLV, dewormed, and flea treated prior to adoption. Kittens are not spayed or neutered until 6 months of age, but the cost of the spay/neuter will be covered as part of the adoption.
