Hello. My name is Nelly, but folks around here call me Peppermint Patty. I'm 6 years old. I have beautiful black fur, a round face and even rounder body. When you visit, please look for me. You can usually find me sleeping in the window inside the coziest bed. I love everyone - people of all ages and every kind of cat. I bet I'd be a purr-fect emotional support cat for someone, because when you cuddle with me - you can't help but feel chill. I'm just a squishy bundle of love. I love other cats, especially my friend, Giggles. (She's really shy and I help her be more confident. Maybe you can adopt us both?) When you come visit me, please come up real close to me so I can put my forehead on yours. That's how I say, "I love you". I'm a perfect cat, with one exception... I have something called *FIV (feline immunodeficiency virus). That means, I have a reduced immune system. I know people really like me, but my health issues scare them away. Being POS-FIV, my adopters will just have to take super great care of me, like having nutritious food and 2X year vet visits. FIV positive cats can live long lives with a little extra care. I hope you are the person that will give me a forever home. Please come to LAS and talk to the staff about adopting me.
*LAS routinely checks for FIV, as it's a common virus found in cats living outdoors. All of the cats in the Teal adoption room have tested positive for FIV. You cannot catch FIV, and you can't spread it. FIV is only transmitted by blood from one feline to another. Please come visit our FIV cats, they are some of the friendliest cats we have at the shelter.
