Hello, I'm Bowser. I am a 7-year-old Rottweiler mix. I was transferred to MaxFund from a shelter in New Mexico, and I thought I found my forever home, but sadly, they returned me to the shelter after being with them for over a year! That's okay, I understand things happen, and I am glad MaxFund had a spot for me to stay!
I have been in foster for almost a year (about 8 months), working on my anxiety, socialization, and all around "good boy" manners! My foster dad has really put in a lot of work with me, and he thinks I'm ready for my forever home! I am incredibly sweet and lovable and if it was up to me I'd cuddle all day and night with you! You may never meet a more lovable dog than me! I am one of those rare dogs who still has the energy and personality of a puppy!
I love going on long walks and I like to hike and jog too! I am working on walking on a leash without pulling, and am getting pretty good at it! You should definitely know, I have a high small prey drive, rabbits and squirrels drive me absolutely bonkers, but my attention can be averted, and I snap right back to paying attention to you! I am EXTREMELY treat-motivated, great for training- horrible for the waistline! I'm house trained and just graduated from obedience training! I know a bunch of commands really well (Sit, Down, Leave it, Come, Heal, Stay, Watch me, Wait, Back, Touch, Settle) and I'm eager to please!
My future family should have experience with a dog who has a high prey drive for small animals and anxiety, and at least a 6-foot fence. I need plenty of space to play fetch, and get my super zoomies out! I can get anxious in certain indoor situations, and I do love people, but I get nervous with sudden movements and when people carry objects around me, so I'm probably best in a quiet environment without children under the age of 16. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE KIDS!! Just in small doses, I need to have a break from them every now and again. I would do okay with younger nieces, nephews, and grandchildren as long as they understand boundaries! I don't do well, when people pull on my ears and tail!
I do love to play with dogs, so I'd love to meet your other canine companion! I'm truly the sweetest pup and act way younger than my age!
