***IN FOSTER****

We fell for Adele!!!

And we think you will, too! Our gorgeous little mini-panther was rescued from a terrible hoarding situation in Beamsville with her three little ones. But that's Water Under the Bridge, as we saw potential for Adele to give up that rough, harsh life, stop singing the blues, and sign up for a much cushier lifestyle, indoors! So Adele was given a new start in a foster home, where she is learning to trust and love humans!

As a result of Adele's very rough start to life, and given that she had minimal contact with people, she came to EHS quite shy and timid. But she is gaining confidence in her humans, starting to trust that they are good and kind. And while she doesn't enjoy being held, she won't give you the Cold Shoulder, and enjoys the occasional cheek and chin scratches! She's letting her guard down, bit by bit, and now plays in front of her Foster mom. And Adele is accepting treats from her Foster mom...because she CAN be bribed! One of Adele's favorite pastimes is spying on the neighbors, as that's some really good entertainment!

In order to help Adele increase her comfort level with humans, we placed one of her confident kittens, Laylah, in foster with her. It was just what she needed! Adele saw that Laylah was comfortable with her Foster mom, so she started following her lead. She will now sit with her mom, sleep on her mom's bed, and explore her digs! It became clear that Adele is really a "cat's cat," loving to play with Laylah (who, in the way of teenaged offspring, really wasn't all that thrilled about!). Now that Laylah has been adopted, we are hoping to find another kitty to reside with Adele.

Adele would like you to know that she has FeLV. FeLV+ cats should usually be the only cat in the household. However, Adele seems to be a cat who does best in the company of other kitties! A home with another friendly, FeLV cat, might be just the thing for this songstress. We haven't had a chance to gauge how well Adele would fare with a canine companion, but that might not be out of the question. FeLV poses no risk to humans or other species of animals. Cats with FeLV have a suppressed immune system, and have a greater likelihood of contracting secondary illnesses. Some cats that have FeLV conquer the virus and recover, while others may have a significantly shortened life expectancy.

So, how do you best manage the virus? By keeping Adele indoors in a stress-free, calm home, with good nutrition and twice a year regular Vet check ups. Currently, Adele is healthy and does not require any medication. Adele is a loving cat, who is looking for someone to take a chance on her, and understand that whether she lives 2 years or 20, Adele has a lot of love to give and deserves a forever home just like any other cat.

Adele is hoping to be the One and Only for Someone Like You! And, if you've ever wanted to own your very own mini-panther, then make an appointment to say Hello to Adele at her Foster - today!
The adoption fee for a single cat at EHS is $150. Take home a feline friend for your kitty and the adoption fee for the pair is $250! Each of our cats is spayed/neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, snap tested for FIV/FeLV, dewormed, and flea treated prior to adoption. Kittens are not spayed or neutered until 6 months of age, but the cost of the spay/neuter will be covered as part of the adoption.
