Dori is a super cute and playful Shih Tzu mix. If you want to win Dori over and make her very happy, just take her for a walk. She loves to go for walks. She also loves other dogs and playing with them, therefore, another easy going dog in her new home will be a requirement. Dori also gets along with cats. Dori has come a long way since she first came to us at National Mill Dog Rescue, but she still can be very anxious in new situations. It will take her some time to warm up to you, so her new home will need to be a calm, child-free, patient home. Dori is doing great with potty training and leash training, loves treats, and likes exploring in the backyard as much as possible. If you are ready to welcome a new cute challenge into your home and heart and you want that to be Dori, fill out an application for adoption at http://milldogrescue.org.

Prior to being rescued, many of our dogs have experienced minimal socialization. As a result, there is often an adjustment period when learning about life as a family pet. We typically do not adopt to homes with children under 6 years old; homes with older children will be considered on an individual basis. Common skills such as housetraining and leash walking will often take a little extra time. Patience, understanding and a gentle hand are a must. The great news is, most of these dogs come around rather quickly and being a part of their rehabilitation is an extremely rewarding experience.
