Barnaby the Miniature Australian Shepherd is very selective about his humans. He is cautious and standoffish with new people, but once you have been chosen to be part of his life, Barnaby wants nothing more than to be with you. Snuggling next to you, warming your lap or by your side on a hike or walk, Barnaby will be your devoted companion. This smart boy already knows how to walk on a leash, but he will need to have a securely fenced yard to help with his potty training. Although Barnaby gets along with many other dogs, a meet and greet with any other dogs in the home will be required. Children are too loud and move too quickly for him, so an all-adult household will be required. If you believe that you can win Barnaby's heart, please ask to meet him.

Prior to being rescued, many of our dogs have experienced minimal socialization. As a result, there is often an adjustment period when learning about life as a family pet. Common skills such as housetraining and leash walking will often take a little extra time. Patience, understanding and a gentle hand are a must. The great news is, most of these dogs come around rather quickly, and being a part of their rehabilitation is an extremely rewarding experience.
