The male Chihuahua mix named Ryder is a sweet boy who is easy going and friendly with other dogs of all sizes and both genders. He enjoys his canine buddies and learns from them. Although he has come a long way since being rescued, Ryder is still cautious of humans, until he gets to know them and spends time with them. He is a champ on the leash but still needs a yard to explore and to keep him safe. Ryder's faves include playing with toys, outside time, treats, and quiet time in his soft bed. This world of kindness is new to him, so Ryder requires patience to continue learning to trust, as well as with potty training. He is already becoming more confident and will continue to blossom in a loving home. If you want to be rewarded with a faithful companion and hiking buddy, just ask for Ryder!

Prior to being rescued, many of our dogs have experienced minimal socialization. As a result, there is often an adjustment period when learning about life as a family pet. We typically do not adopt to homes with children under 6 years old; homes with older children will be considered on an individual basis. Common skills such as housetraining and leash walking will often take a little extra time. Patience, understanding and a gentle hand are a must. The great news is, most of these dogs come around rather quickly and being a part of their rehabilitation is an extremely rewarding experience.
