Vail is an active little pom chi, who loves the company of other dogs. Being adventurous she will need a securely fenced yard to keep her safe. She is currently learning how to walk on a leash and will need a patient and calm family to help her. This young girl loves to chew on toys, squeak the squeaker, and play tug of war with other dogs. Vail is still fearful of humans and isn't fond of being held and loved yet. With time and patience, she will build her confidence and learn how to accept lap time and even ask for love. Vail cannot be adopted into a home with children under the age of 13. She will need another canine sibling to help her learn how to trust and how to be a dog. Vail just needs your time and patience to blossom into the fun, loving, little girl that is just waiting to emerge.

Prior to being rescued, many of our dogs have experienced minimal socialization. As a result, there is often an adjustment period when learning about life as a family pet. We typically do not adopt to homes with children under 6 years old; homes with older children will be considered on an individual basis. Common skills such as housetraining and leash walking will often take a little extra time. Patience, understanding and a gentle hand are a must. The great news is, most of these dogs come around rather quickly and being a part of their rehabilitation is an extremely rewarding experience.
