Joan is a Brussels Griffon/ Yorkshire Terrier. She is a super fun and playful girl who loves other dogs and is easy-going, very playful and friendly with them. Another dog in the home is a requirement to help her to learn to trust people. While Joan has learned to accept some people and even enjoys some attention from a few of them, she is still standoffish and cautious. Because of her fears, she cannot be adopted to a family with any children in the home at all. She will need a securely fenced yard to keep her safe. She loves to go for walks and this will help her build trust and confidence in her forever home. With time, love and patience she will become a part of your family. Joan will also need help to learn where to go potty. She is a very sweet girl that just needs the right home and other canine friends to show her that being a part of a family is a good thing. Prior to being rescued, many of our dogs have experienced minimal socialization. As a result, there is often an adjustment period when learning about life as a family pet. We typically do not adopt to homes with children under 6 years of age; homes with older children will be considered on an individual basis. Common skills such as house training and leash walking will often take a little extra time. Patience, understanding and a gentle hand are a must. The great news is, most of these dogs come around rather quickly and being a part of their rehabilitation is an extremely rewarding experience.
