Sherman is a handsome boy who is looking for a loving human companion to be by his side. He has come very far and surprised his rehab team with the incredible progress he has made. Once he is comfortable he will follow his person around. He will happily go for walks and hikes and needs a playful canine companion to run around a securely fenced yard with. He is very treat-motivated, which will be helpful in teaching him to enjoy lap time to the fullest and learning that it's ok to be approached. Sherman does still have many fears and can act out when he is scared so he will need to go to a home with NO children. Patience and time are what this special dog needs. This little guy is so deserving of a great home and ready to show the world his accomplishments.

Prior to being rescued, many of our dogs have experienced minimal socialization. As a result, there is often an adjustment period when learning about life as a family pet. We typically do not adopt to homes with children under 6 years old; homes with older children will be considered on an individual basis. Common skills such as housetraining and leash walking will often take a little extra time. Patience, understanding and a gentle hand are a must. The great news is, most of these dogs come around rather quickly and being a part of their rehabilitation is an extremely rewarding experience.
