Meet Ameera!
Ameera has been waiting 6 years for the perfect home of her own. She is an 8-year-old Border Collie that currently weighs about 52 pounds and is fully grown! Ameera does well with dogs, cats, and even pigs, but will still need to have proper introductions to any resident animals living in the home, to make sure that it is a great match. Ameera can be a little shy during her meets, so she will need multiple greetings to feel comfortable enough to trust. Once she has the chance to get to know you, and become a part of your family, she would love to cuddle with her favorite humans. Ameera is very smart and is very well mannered! She is housebroken and knows exactly where to go when she needs to potty. Since being here at the shelter, she has also learned some pretty good basic skills like "sit", "down", and "off". She is also well versed in crate training and does well when being told that it's time for bed. Ameera is a dog that loves to be on furniture and would love to take naps on couches, so a home that is okay with furniture surfing would definitely be the home for her!
As much as Ameera loves her favorite people, she can also be hard trusting of people that are new to her. Because of this, a home with lots of frequent visitors can be really scary for her and would not be the best fit. Ameera would require a physical fenced in yard, not only to help her get the exercise she needs without having unneeded stress, but to also make her feel protected in her home. Some things that Ameera considers to be too overwhelming are car rides, going on walks somewhere she is not familiar with, and especially meeting people inside of her space/home. Ameera would do best in a home without children, or visiting children, as she still can be overwhelmed by fast movements and loud noises too. Ameera is ready for a home that is willing to provide her with the patience and the consistency she needs to be successful!
Even though she may have lots of people who love her and take great care of her at the shelter, living in a shelter is stressful for dogs like Ameera and she would love to be in a permanent home.
