Are you looking for a new best friend that will always have lots to say? Vera is looking for her new home and would love a family that can help her come out of her shell and show her how much fun the world can be!
~ Vera is looking for a loving patient adult only family that can help her learn how to be a happy and confident dog. ~ This sweetie needs a quieter home that is a house rather than apartment style home as she is too nervous to get into an apartment, she also does not want to upset her new neighbours with her big singing voice. ~ Vera is shy and sensitive to new people, environments and situations so her new family should be prepared to help her slowly become more comfortable throughout different aspects of her life. ~ Vera will need to be signed up for 3 in-person training sessions to help work on her socializing, basic training and manners and build some confidence and trust with her new family. ~ She likely will need to meet her new family more than once before she is comfortable enough to go home with them. ~ Vera is shy but she does love to be active! She will need lots of opportunities for exercise and enrichment daily to keep her busy and happy. Regularly Exhibited Behaviours Noticed: - Vocal - Nervous/Shy - High Energy - Touch Sensitive - Under-Socialized Explanation of Behaviours: - Vera can be nervous with new people and in new environments and will need slow proper introductions. She may require multiple meets to feel comfortable. - Can be touch sensitive, especially with new people - She can be vocal at times - She will need to be socialized a lot in a safe and proper way to ensure she is set up for success in her new home. Do not force her into situations but instead encourage her to have positive experiences with new things - A high energy dog (once comfortable) that will need plenty of attention, training, exercise, and enrichment daily This dog would benefit from: - An active home - Adult only home - No apartments - Lots of time and attention - Lots of training and socialization Training needs/behaviours that need to be worked with for this dog: - Socialization - Basic training and manners - Work on nervousness & touch sensitivity **For more information on any behaviours stated above, please check out our behaviour fact sheet: https://kwsphumane.ca/BehavioursandDefinitions **Please remember that animals are coming back from foster care to the centres for their meet and greets. They will be experiencing a new environment and meeting new people, which means they may not exhibit the same behaviours they did in their foster videos or while in foster care.
