Lucy Lu was sprung from a breeder thanks to some kind Good Samaritans. After receiving the medical care she needed to get healthy, they entrusted her to our rescue so we could help find her the happy home she deserves.
Lucy didn't receive much socialization at the breeder, so she is a shy girl at first. With a little time and patience, though, she warms up to her people and begins to show her sweet personality. She does well with other dogs, but we don't yet know how she feels about cats or children.
She is learning to walk on leash and does nicely when walking in the yard, though she can be a bit more fearful when venturing outside of it. Lucy already knows the "kennel up" command and sleeps quietly in her kennel through the night.
Lucy was originally trained to use potty pads and reportedly used them reliably. In her foster home, however, she is taken outside regularly and has only used a potty pad once in her first 14 days in the home. During the day, she has earned enough trust to be gated in an office with a potty pad available if needed, and she has remained very trustworthy when left alone.
Lucy is currently carrying a few extra pounds, so we're hoping to find a home that will be committed to helping her shed the excess weight for her long-term health.
Lucy Lu would do best in a quiet home with someone willing to go at her pace, nurture her confidence, and be patient with her shy nature. With a little love and understanding, this gentle girl is sure to blossom.
